  • Time to plant garlic

Tennessee garlic planting time for the remainder of October.   This will be our first year for garlic, but not so much for the food co-op yet because of the costs of getting the garlic bulbs.

We see some form of garlic coming up at the Secret Haven homestead, so that’s a start!  We have to learn how to care for it.

After doing a research on growing garlic in Tennessee, I came across this post, Growing garlic in Tennessee, and I quote from this site:

If you’re growing garlic in Tennessee and concerned about yields, your best bet for a hardneck garlic will be the Creole garlics, which include Creole Red, Ajo Rojo, and Burgundy.

So, there you have it!  Our Little Homestead will add the Creole garlic varieties to the “must have” list of things to grow for our CSA.

    Eventually, we’ll want garlic year-round.

October 10 – November 1 is our target days for planting, but not sure if it’s accurate.
